2019 Lok Sabha Elections: BJP President Amit Shah Next Target Bihar And Jharkhand

2019 Lok Sabha Elections: BJP President Amit Shah will take next party affairs review in Bihar and Jharkhand in upcoming weeks.

BJP President Amit Shah will be taking a review of party’s affairs in Bihar and Jharkhand next week. In Bihar, the BJP president is expected to guide the senior leaders about finer points of the alliance politics.

Amit Shah to review party affairs in Bihar and Jharkhand

With well-entrenched governments in both Bihar and Jharkhand, BJP President Amit Shah will be taking a review of party’s affairs in the two states next week. Amit Shah has summoned Bihar BJP’s core committee members for a meeting in Delhi on September 14.

A day after the BJP President will leave for a three-day visit to Jharkhand where BJP is currently celebrating 1000 days of Raghubar Das government. Shah will hold deliberations with party workers at the grassroots, organizational leaders and also the ministers. Jharkhand, in all likelihood, will have simultaneous assembly polls together with Lok Sabha elections.

Incidentally, Shah was instrumental in picking Raghubar Das as the first non-tribal chief Minister of Jharkhand. Though Raghubar has largely had a successful tenure so far, his biggest failure in winning over tribal vote bank can be a cause of concern for Shah.

The BJP leadership, which has backed Raghubar to the hilt in the past, may nudge him this time to involve other BJP leaders in various decision making processes. Shah is aware of the fact that BJP under Raghubar Das government has lost two of the three by-elections it contested in the last two years. BJP cannot afford being branded as anti-tribal in a state where more than one-third (28 out of 81) seats in the assembly are reserved for Scheduled Tribe.

Prior to his Jharkhand visit, Shah will hold discussions with Bihar leaders in New Delhi. Top BJP biggies from Bihar, including state unit president Nityanand Rai, organisational general-secretary Nagendra Nath, national vice- president Renu Devi and senior leaders such as Sushil Kumar Modi, Nand Kishore Yadav, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Radha Mohan Singh, C. P. Thakur, Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Giriraj Singh are likely to take part in the meeting.

Incidentally, this will be Amit Shah’s first broad interaction with party leaders after formation of the NDA government in Bihar. The BJP president is expected to guide the senior leaders about finer points of the alliance politics, besides of course reviewing organizational preparedness at the ground level. The discussion can help Shah at the drawing board ahead of his proposed visit to Bihar in the first week of November. Shah had last visited Bihar in January this year.

Amit Shah has a very focused approach and he likes keeping the party grass- root organisation structure in election mode well ahead of any election. While the next general election is due almost two years from now, you never know if the top leadership has a plan up their sleeves to advance polls,” said a senior BJP leader.
Shah will also take feedback on the steps needed for keeping the party cadre proactive on a sustained basis besides meeting booth committee members.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah tweeted about his recent visit to West Bengal. Find out how did it go:
